A road rage suspect stunned a judge during his trial when he appeared in court with his face covered by black ink because he was being treated as ‘black man’.
Mark Char, 61 was jailed for life after stabbing three people including a Filipino in a road altercation in Hawaii.
The suspect used a permanent black ink to make a statement that he is being tried in a ‘kangaroo court’.
“This kangaroo court has given me a life sentence for me trying to protect and defend myself against the attack from three guys, in essence treating me like a black man,” Char said.
“If you look in the mirror, Mr Char, you’re not going to see a black person. You’re gonna see a menace. You’re gonna see a menace to society,” the judge said according to a KITV report.
Char was found guilty last March of attempted murder and assault.
He stabbed three men after cutting off a driver on the road. One of the victims almost died.
Char received a sentence of life imprisonment but could still be subjected to parole.
