The four terminals at the Ninoy Aquino International Airports have a Lightning Protection Systems, as per its management despite several flights delayed due to lightning alerts.
Manila International Airport General Manager Ed Monreal said the terminal has 20 lightning arresters used to protect buildings from the damaging effects of lightning.
These devices are used to protect electrical and telecommunication facilities of the terminal.
He added that these are being checked every three years, based on the international standards.
The terminal recorded more than 50 delayed flights in the past two weeks because of lightning alerts, causing the temporary suspension of ramp operations in NAIA.
