Crocodile kills man in Palawan

Palawan, Philippines- A mutilated body was recovered in Canipaan River in the town of Rizal in Palawan, Friday night.

Authorities said the remains belong to Jomar Mangali, 35 years-old, who was apparently was attacked by a crocodile in the area.

Mangali was reported missing by his family on Thursday. Jovic Fabello, spokesperson for Palawan Council for Sustainable Development said there’s an active crocodile nesting ground in the area and it’s off limits to the residents.

Canipaan river is also considered to be a crocodile sanctuary and authorities are still investigating how Mangali reached the place.

Last year, a 15-foot crocodile was caught in Balabac, Palawan after killing a fisherman in the area.
