Bato challenges detractors: ‘Let’s take IQ test!’

Senator-elect Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has challenged detractors to take an IQ test with him and compare scores.

Dela Rosa, a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy and holder of master’s degree in public administration and doctorate in development administration, admitted he needs training on crafting laws and other duties of a senator.

He drew flak as he was elected as senator without even knowing what the job of a senator really is.

“Ang katalinuhan ng tao doon ‘yan nasusukat sa IQ test. ‘Yung tumutuligsa sa akin na ako’y bobo, sabay tayo, mag-exam tayo ng IQ test, kung sino mas mataas sa atin ang IQ (The intelligence of an individual is measured by an IQ test. Those who criticized me for being stupid, let us take an IQ test together and see who has a higher IQ),” he said.

“Bakit ka magmayabang porke’t senador ka na, ayaw mong aminin na kulang ka sa alam, hindi mo tanggapin limitasyon mo (Why, just because you’re a senator now, you won’t admit your shortcomings, your limitations)? You should be true to yourself,” he added.

Dela Rosa was the chief of Davao Police when President Rodrigo Duterte was the city’s mayor. When Duterte became president, he appointed Dela Rosa as director general of the Philippine National Police, making Dela Rosa the primary enforcer of the bloody war on drugs.

Dela Rosa said while he would be cooperative and supportive, he would not be dictated by Malacañang.

He also vowed to perform his duties as senator.

“Magtrabaho nang magtrabaho, hindi matutulog, pagsikapan ng husto na ‘yung mga batas na magagawa natin ay pawang magaganda at kapaki-pakinabang sa sambayanang Pilipino (Work hard, don’t sleep on the job, make sure that the laws that we create are good and worthwhile to the Filipino people.),” he said.
