Police nabs another suspect in Cebu teen slay

Another suspect to the gruesome murder of Cristine Lee Silawan has been arrested by authorities after he confessed to the crime.

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, director of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), said that the suspect, who was identified as 42-year-old Renato Bayuban Llenes, made an extra-judicial confession of before law enforcers when he was arrested in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, reported Cebu Daily News.

Llenes said that he dupes young girls into having sexual relationship with him and Silawan became one of his targets.

Two days after he got arrested, he was presented before the press at Camp Sergio Osmeña wherein he recalled how he killed Silawan.

Llenes said that he created a fake Facebook profile to lure Silawan by chatting with her frequently.

The suspect said that he and Silawan eventually became an online couple, and that they agreed to meet personally for the first time on March 10 at Sacred Heart Parish in Lapu-Lapu City.

However, Llenes recalled that Silawan was furious after she found out that she was deceived and they had a fight about it.

The suspect also admitted that he became obsessed with Silawan and that he also got mad at her when he discovered that she was no longer a virgin and that she already had a sexual experience with a past boyfriend.

He then said that it was that same night when he killed Silawan by stabbing her with a pair of scissors over 30 times.

He also used the scissors to peel off the skin of her face so that she won’t be recognized.

Llenes also said that he was under the influence of illicit drug when the crime happened.

“He was a drug pusher and a drug user whose name is included in the drug watchlist,” Sinas said.

Authorities were also able to identify Llenes after several witnesses corroborated closed-circuit television (CCTV) footages they gathered.

Llenes said that she decided to confess his crime because his conscience is bothering him.

Prior to Llenes’ arrest, Silawan’s 17-year-old boyfriend has also been arrested by authorities.
