Teenager dies after taking selfie near train tracks

Taking a selfie was the last thing a teenager from Russia was able to do as she was killed in her attempt to take a quick photos on the tracks and failed to notice that a train was about to arrive.

15-year old Karina Baymukhambetova was with a boy, believed to be a relative who tried to warn her about the dangers of taking selfies on the tracks but Karina only replied “Be afraid of nothing in life”, as per a report from DailyMail.

The boy managed to escape the tracks just in time while the train driver applied the emergency brakes but engine wasn’t able to stop in time for Karina to get to safety. Another local media report mentioned that the driver even sounded his horn, but Karina still didn’t notice it.

Karina’s untimely death shook the social media, especially parents of children as the horrible accident became a wake-up call for everyone to take extra care when taking selifes at hazardous areas.

Elena Zaporozhskaya, Orsk social policy chief, said: ‘Children need to be able to say ‘no’ when something is risky for their life and health. It is a hard thing to learn but necessary.

‘Secondly, I want parents to know where their children are and with whom they are spending time.

‘People must protect the lives and health of their children.’
