A new smart gate in Dubai airport will soon be able to test the vital signs of those entering the country.
The smart gate, called “Smart Health Tracks”, uses thermal cameras to detect the passengers’ temperature and vital signs.
If a passenger is detected to be ill, data are sent to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) and the passenger will be given necessary treatment, reported Timeout Dubai.
Aside from early detection, the smart gates are also expected to help in storing data regarding the passengers since MOHAP can use the information when the passenger visits any hospital in the UAE.
With the stored information as regards the passenger’s health status, check-in time in hospitals will be lessened.
The authorities also assured that data collected will be strictly private and safe from any leaks.
The model of the smart gate was displayed at the Arab Health Congress and Exhibition and is currently in its initial phase.
It will soon be tested and used at the Dubai airport. No date on this release, however, has been confirmed.
