Dubai airport named ‘busiest airport in the world’ for the 5th time

For the fifth consecutive year, the Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been named as the world’s busiest airport for international travelers after it experienced a 1% increase in passenger traffic in 2018.

DXB totalled 89,149,387 in annual traffic in 2018, ahead of Heathrow Airport in England which had an 80 million passenger traffic in the past 12 months.

India was reported as the top country destination in terms of passenger number with a total of 12,279,485 passengers flying to the said country from DXB.

Other top country destinations include the United Kingdom (6,284,771) and the United States (3,205,524), while China (3,512,075), and Russia (1,533,654) had a significant growth in passenger number.

Meanwhile, the top cities include London (3,817,889), Mumbai (2,540,750) and Kuwait (2,194,576).

Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths also mentioned some more changes in DXB in his annual video message which was posted on YouTube.
