DUBAI: The Dubai Police has launched what it called “Policeman in your Neighborhood” program in which a Dubai Police’s officer acts as liaison between Dubai citizens and residents and the General Command of the Dubai Police, to monitor and solve problems in residential areas.
The move was made upon instruction of H.E Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, with the follow-up of H.E Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al-Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation.
According to Sheikha Al Abdouli, head of awareness section at the Crime Prevention Department, the “Policeman in Your Neighborhood” platform was launched in 2013 by Lt-Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai. “It aims at addressing negative phenomena, reducing crime rate, following-up Police’s community reports and serving people in residential districts,” she said.
1st Lieutenant Engineer Khalifa Al Roum, Secretary General of Dubai Police Youth Council, said the platform will be available over the external Dubai Police’s network to measure policeman’s performance at dealing and solving various problems in their residential districts.
The e-volunteering platform announcement was during the open-meeting with Dubai Police’s volunteers at Dubai Officers Club, in the presence of number of officers and cadets.
