The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) informed recruitment agencies of the temporary ban in place for Ethiopian domestic helpers.
According to the advisory, recruitment agencies are told not to process permits of Ethiopian domestic workers entering the UAE for work, reported Khaleej Times.
The ban is said to have taken effect since December 11 and will be in place “until further notice”.
If a Tadbeer center accepts application for entry permits of Ethiopian domestic helpers following the release of the advisory, the center will be held responsible for not following the order.
Tadbeer centers have expressed support on the new order.
