A Filipina household service worker in Hong Kong was sentenced to 21 months of imprisonment after she pleaded guilty of robbing $180,000 from a firm in February.
Apart from the robbery, Rachel Rosimo, 35, also breached her contract to stay in the country as a domestic helper by working part-time for the firm.
Rosimo was initially charged with trespassing into the office of Sante Barley Ltd. in Lansing Building in Queens Road Central on February 3. She told the police investigators that she was a part-time administrative staff of the company.
The next day, Rosimo told a colleague that $180,000 cash was missing from their office. However, she was seen in the CCTV footage of the building entering the office the previous day. She was arrested three days later and confessed to doing the crime.
Judge Frankie Yu of the District Court sentenced Rosimo to 20 months for the burglary and 2 months for the breach of condition of stay, reported The Sun Hong Kong.
