Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has confirmed that he is running for the Senate in 2019 elections.
The former Philippine National Police chief told Rappler in an interview at the New Bilibid Prison on September 3 that President Rodrigo Duterte has signaled him to run for Senate
It was not disclosed under which party he would run but his move to transfer his voter’s registration in Davao would tie him to Sara Duterte’s party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
In a Pulse Asia survey in June, Dela Rosa made it to the top 12 of the most likely to get elected in the Senate. He gained popularity for implementing Duterte’s war against drugs.
