China to accept 2000 Pinoy English teachers next month

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that around 2000 English language teachers may fly to China for employment starting next month.

Interested applicants may submit their applications to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), reported RMN.

DOLE Chief Silvestre Bello III revealed that they are merely finalizing the guidelines of the program before they can begin deployment.

He added that there be no age requirement and the gross salary will be about PHP 74,000-84,000. The contract will be renewable after two years.

He also warned that the program might be used by illegal recruiters to scam aspiring OFWs. He clarified that the program was an arrangement between the two governments.

The move was orchestrated after Bello met with Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua in April to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the Employment of Filipino Teachers of English Language in China
