MoI warns job seekers against fake medical jobs online

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has warned the public, especially job seekers, about fake job offers in the medical field that are proliferating online.

MoI said fraudsters post fake job offers from hospitals in the UAE and take money from job seekers who would try to apply, reported Khaleej Times.

The suspects would lure their victims by posting fake jobs online with a generous amount of salary and other benefits. They make their job postings seem legit by adding the logos and names of the hospitals they claim to be working for.

When an interested jobseeker applies, the fraudsters would ask for recruitment fees while promising that they will get the job.

Some applicants would only realize they have been scammed after they went to the hospitals they applied for and found out that there were no vacancies.

MoI decided to release a warning after several reputable hospitals in the country received complaints from unknown jobseekers for their non-existent job offerings.

After the complaints that the hospital got, MoI reminded job seekers to be mindful and careful when they are looking jobs online.

“These online criminals take advantage of people being desperate to find jobs so they could earn a living and promise them fake jobs to cheat them,” Khaleej Times quoted Brigadier-General Dr Salah Al Ghoul, director-general for community protection and crime prevention at the Ministry of Interior, as saying.

He added that job seekers should not immediately trust online advertisements and emails that asks for money.

The MoI official also reminded online criminals that committing such can entail jail sentences of not less than a year and not exceeding three years and fines ranging from Dh250,000 to Dh1 million.
