A Filipino couple in Hagonoy, Bulacan proved that love defies all things even the intense rain and flooding the struck many areas in the Philippines in the last few days.
In a video uploaded on Facebook, the bride, Jobel Delos Angeles, is seen in smiles while walking down the aisle with her feet submerged in an ankle-deep flooding which has invaded the church due to non-stop rains in the region.
“Even if it floods or it rains, nothing can stop me. You only get married once, will you postpone it? I was marrying the man I love,” Delos Angeles told AFP.
Delos Angeles said that the bottom part of her white dress became brown when it hit the floor but in her mind, she imagined that she was walking on a red carpet.
If the ceremony itself looks like a “piece of work”, getting to the church was no easier. The couple road a boat since no taxi wanted to go to the area and risk getting stuck.
Despite the intense rain and flooding that seemed to call for the postponement of the wedding, the couple decided to push through as it was the baptism of their five-month-old daughter too.
“We didn’t expect so many people would still turn up, even the entourage,” Delos Angeles said.
The groom did not look bothered either as he took the hand of Delos Angeles and assisted her on her way to the altar and confessed his love to the bride.
While, the wedding did not turn out the way the couple pictured it to be, Delos Angeles is more than elated to have been married and learn new things in the process.
“It is truly memorable. I am so happy. It shows the lesson that there are no what ifs,” Delos Angeles said.
