The overseas Filipina worker (OFW) who was doused with boiling water by her employer in Dammam, Saudi Arabia has been discharged from the hospital and will be repatriated to the Philippines soon.
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato said that OFW Gealyn Tumalip-Gavanes, who is currently in the custody of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, will be repatriated once she is declared fit to travel.
Cato also assured that help will be extended to the Filipina particularly on settling her unpaid salaries and processing of necessary documents for her repatriation.
“The Embassy has also met with representatives of her Saudi recruiting agency to demand that they settle her unpaid salaries, secure her exit visa and shoulder the cost of her repatriation,” he added.
Gavanes cried for help after her employer doused her with hot water for seeking help from her agency about alleged physical abuse.
She sustained burns in different parts of her body.
