Amid the schism of the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque joined the regional party founded by Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).
Roque along with Senator JV Ejercito, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, and Bureau of Corrections Chief Ronald dela Rosa took the oath to become members of the Hugpong in Davao Occidental.
They were sworn in by the party chairperson Sara Duterte-Carpio, who also expressed gratitude to the people for the continuous support to her and her father.
Roque and Go are rumored to run for senator in the next year’s elections.
While Duterte-Carpio intends to keep HNP as a regional party, she said that HNP is not closing its doors to political alliances.
