Abu Dhabi rolls out free bus service from 6am – 10pm

The Department of Transportation (DOT) in Abu Dhabi has launched their free bus service which will cater to the commuters in different areas in the Capital.

The pilot phase of the service, which is called “Hail and Ride”, will begin in Musaffah and will transport commuters to the main bus stops in the area. The service is available from 6 am until 10 pm.

After the pilot phase, DOT will look into the possibility of extending the free bus service to the other areas and points in Abu Dhabi.

With the service, DOT seeks to improve daily public transport experience of commuters in the emirate.

Special transport for expats amid amnesty program

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) has announced that the RTA will have a special transportation for expats who intend to avail of the amnesty program that will begin on August 1.

In a press conference held by the FAIC’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA – Dubai), Major General Mohammed Al Marri, General Director of the GDRFA-Dubai announced that the RTA will be working together with the government to provide aid for the amnesty seekers.

“There will be a map for buses heading here (at Al Aweer). Whoever would like to come, we’ll give them assistance,” said Major General Al Marri.

The UAE Amnesty period lasts for a period of 3 months, from August 1 to October 31. The UAE has delegated 9 centres for the amnesty which can be found here.

The centres’ operating hours are from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Sundays to Thursdays. The UAE Government has also prepared a 24/7 toll free number – 800-5111 which will respond to all those who are seeking amnesty.
