A former outstanding OFW awardee made history for being the first Filipino to win an elective post in United Kingdom.
Philippine Ambassador to London Antonio Manuel Lagdameo announced that Councilor Danilo M. Favor was elected as deputy mayor of East Grinstead in Sussex, England.
Members of the East Grinstead Town Council elected Favor as deputy mayor following his stint as town councilor for two terms.
He was first elected as councilor in 2011 before he was re-elected in 2015 for his second term.
“He is the first Filipino to hold this elective post,” said Ambassador Antonio Manuel R. Lagdameo as he congratulated Favor.
Favor was a former recipient of the Presidential Award for outstanding overseas Filipino in 2014 for his dedication to promote the welfare of overseas Filipino workers and communities.
He has been living in East Grinstead for 15 years and had previously received the Community Service Award in 2014 from Mid-Sussex District Council due to his active participation and contribution in the town.
Favor is also the incumbent president of Bicol United, the organization of different Bicolano communities in the United Kingdom.
Currently, Favor works as a nurse practitioner at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
