Never in a million years did this ice cream vendor imagine he will ever receive a surprise gift from no less than Senator Manny Pacquiao.
In a viral video posted on Facebook, boxer-turned-politician Senator Manny Pacquiao surprised a local ice cream vendor in General Santos City named Manong Marciano with cash, a new home, and a job.
According to Jen Manilay, the netizen who posted the video, she was with Pacquiao when she saw Manong Marciano whom she recognized since she usually buys ice cream from him when he passes by her office building.
Manong Marciano heard the call and served 10 ice cream products to Manilay, one of which was given to Pacquiao.
“I bought 10 pieces of ice cream and gave one to MP (Manny Pacquiao). And MP suddenly said ‘Tawagin mo si manong’. Nagulat si manong nang sinabi kong may papakilala ako sa kanya at isang Manny Pacquiao ang kanyang nakita,” Manilay said.
Pacquiao gave Manong Marciano Php3,000 but upon learning that the ice cream vendor recently suffered from stroke and has three children who are not enrolled to school, the senator gave Manong Marciano Php30,000.
Pacquiao then asked Manong Marciano if he was renting a house. Pacquiao then promised the ice cream vendor that he will give him a house and lot that he can call his own.
“And MP suddenly said… ‘Nagrerenta ka? Next week bibigyan kita ng bahay at lupa,’” Manilay recalled.
The ice cream vendor was in shock upon realizing what had happened.
“Hindi narin mahihirapan magtinda ng ice cream in a very sunny afternoon dahil binigyan na rin namin si manong ng trabaho sa Goldenstate,” Manilay said.
In the video, Pacquiao is seen eating ice cream while talking with Manong Marciano.
