An overseas Filipina worker (OFW) walked on shards of broken glass without second thoughts to save a toddler in Singapore.
The OFW, identified as Sheryl, saved the three-year-old toddler who broke the glass from a sliding door inside a toilet in his aunt’s place.
According to Peirong, the toddler’s mother, her son just used the toilet and as the person in charge of looking after the toddler was flushing the toilet, her son forcibly pulled the sliding door causing it to break on top of him.
In shock due to the blood flowing on his face, Peirong’s son intended to step on broken pieces of glass scattered on the floor to make his way out of the bathroom.
“Unaware of the danger that is surrounding him, he wanted to take his first step out from the scene,” Peirong’s Facebook post read.
Sheryl, who works as a domestic helper in Peirong’s sister’s home, ran to the scene upon hearing the breaking of the glass and instructed Peirong’s son to stay still.
Sheryl then walked into the comfort room barefoot to carry the toddler out.
“Without a second thought, Sheryl walked into the toilet with her BARE FOOT to carry him out. She could have dangerously hurt herself but I was completely touched by her braveness and selfless act,” Peirong said.
Upon examination, the toddler sustained minor cuts on his head. Both Sheryl and Jena were also not hurt in the accident.
Peirong noted Sheryl’s remarkable act and expressed how thankful she is of the OFW.
“She is a remarkable person who always puts others before herself,” Peirong said.
