Another OFW complains mishandled baggage at Clark International Airport

Another overseas Filipino worker (OFW) came forward to complain about pilfered baggage at the Clark International Airport.

Rhoda Ildefonso, who works in online marketing, took it to Facebook to express her disappointment after she got her bungled baggage at the said airport on January 26.

She said that her bags were in good condition when she checked it in at HongKong airport.

“Ang ayos ng bagahe ko sa Hongkong Airport. Pagdating sa Pilipinas, wala nang zipper at binalot na lang sa plastic bag,” she said in her post.

Many netizens shared and re-posted Ildefonso’s photos and conveyed their own thoughts about the incident.

One netizen who re-posted Ildefonso’s photos said: “Pinagpaguran ‘yan, wala kayong karapatan kahit kusing diyan sa bagahe… Nagkukuskos kami ng kubeta, ‘yung iba nahohomesick at nagkakanda kayod na parang kalabaw…”

Ildefonso did not mention if the items in her bag were stolen.

A month ago, a different case of baggage pilferage happened at the same airport which involved six employees of Miascor, the ground handler under contract with airlines that service flights in Clark and handle baggage of passengers.

The victims, Jovenil Dela Cruz and Rosemary Versoza arrived in the Philippines from a Singapore flight on December 23, 2017.

According to reports, Dela Cruz was told by a certain Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions Inc. agent Jobel Fernando that he would just be notified once their luggage and boxes arrive.

However, Dela Cruz claimed that he did not receive any feedback for two weeks, previously reported by Sunstar.

When they decided to follow up on the items at Clark International Airport, they discovered that their luggage and boxes were pilfered.

Dela Cruz and Versoza lost valuable items in their luggage and boxes worth P84,000.

Due to the incident, the involved employees were terminated and were charged with qualified theft. Miascor’s contract to operate was also not renewed according to Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
