Pink ambulances catering exclusively to women and children have been launched by the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) on Saturday.
The emergency response vehicles will handle emergency treatments of women and children below 12 years old, including pregnant women and injured children.
The vehicles will be stationed at Al Tawar Municipality Center and cover the entire Deira area. They will be on-duty for 12 hours a day from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.
However, the service will be on a two-month observation period before it will be considered to expand to the Bur Dubai area.
“The evaluation of the pink ambulance vehicle will be based on the number of emergency cases dealt with in a particular area. We want to ensure that many residents will benefit from the service,” said Khalifa Al Drai, Executive Director of DCAS.
Furthermore, the paramedics on board are all females. “The female paramedics have completed several training courses and are able to provide the appropriate treatment in very short time,” Al Drai added.
The pink ambulances are part of the latest specialized services offered by the DCAS.
