Mobile application Waze is set to roll out navigation commands in Filipino next month in time for the resumption of the implementation of the revised Anti-Distracted Driving Act.
“There’s a new regulation with the anti-distracted driving law, on hands-free use… In response to that, we are launching a complete suite in Filipino, a Filipino navigation voice that includes the street names and also allow drivers to do hands-free voice command in Filipino,” said Waze Asia Pacific Region lead Mona Weng in an interview with ANC Headlines on June 24.
Weng added that the new feature of the navigation application includes street names and Filipino voice commands.
Under the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, which will resume implementation on July 6, drivers are only allowed to use their mobile devices when using hands-free function, when vehicles are pulled over on the side of the road in compliance with traffic regulations, or when making emergency calls.
