Police catches ex-PBA player Bong Alvarez using drugs

Police arrested former Philippine Basketball Association star Bong Alvarez after catching him together with two other companions in a shabu session in Quezon City on Saturday night.

Police also arrested Mohammad Dana and Ray Allan Cruz, who were using illegal drugs with Alvarez inside the Friend Estima Barber Shop in Sikatuna Village.

The police went to the shop to serve Alvarez an arrest warrant issued over a complaint that he inflicted slight physical injuries to his live-in partner.

Upon entering the barber shop, the police found the three using methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.

In April, Alvarez was also arrested for injuring his live-in partner. Last October, he was arrested after a brawl at a drinking session in Quezon City.

Alvarez played for 16 years in the PBA, where he earned the moniker “Mr. Excitement” for his high-flying drives and dunks. He suited up for different teams, including the Alaska Milkmen.
