President Rodrigo Duterte had warned against Customs officials who will be opening the luggage of arriving migrant Filipino workers for inspection at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Duterte urged vigilance on the part of the returning overseas Filipino (OFs).
“Kung buksan bag ninyo, you raise hell, make a scandal,” he said in a speech before Lusail Sports Arena in Doha, Qatar.
“What is the [expletive] point of opening, tapos kukunan lang ng ano, kaya ngayon wala na,” he added.
“Wala na iyung Customs, darating ang balikbayan, ‘wag n’yo na pakialaman, hard-earned money ‘yan,” he added.
“This cannot go on,” he said in his speech.
The Philippines is a migrant-sending country, with over 10 million Filipinos scattered abroad.
