Rainy day in UAE, NCM shares safety measures

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) shared through social media platform X that it has recorded light, moderate, to heavy rain in different parts of the United Arab Emirates on February 11, 2024.

At 2:24 a.m., there was light rain on Arzanah Island. Followed by a light to moderate rain in Ghiyathi (Al Dhafra Region) and a light rain over Al Tawelaah (Abu Dhabi).

Heavy rain with lightning and thunder struck Sabkhat Matti at around 3:39 a.m. Light to moderate rain was still pouring in different parts of the country. At around 6 a.m., light to moderate rain poured over Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Dubai.

At around 7:00 a.m., light rain poured over Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi.

The latest reported rain as of this writing is the one that poured in scattered areas of Al Ain at around 10:40 a.m.

With that, NCM posted safety measures during the rainy season. These are the following:

  1. Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary. If necessary, drive with caution, and remain vigilant and alert to ensure the safety of all road users.
  2. Turn on low-beam headlights when visibility is reduced
  3. Follow weather forecasts via official channels and be ready to comply with instructions issued by relevant authorities.

NCM also urges the public to stay updated by following the official NCM reports and avoid spreading rumors.
