PopCon ME 2024: A Pop Culture Extravaganza in the Heart of Middle East

Gathering gamers, cosplayers, geeks, artists, celebrities, and many more – Speedy Comics has once again brought the biggest pop culture and gaming event to the Middle East. PopCon ME, on its third run, was held at Skydive Dubai last February 02-04, 2024.
As you enter the venue, you can immediately feel the liveliness of the place. The DJ hypes the people with his great mixes, the cosplayers walking around in character, and the fans who are amazed by the diverse array of stalls offering a treasure trove of pop culture delights – from action figures representing anime characters to unique artwork crafted by both local and international artists.

Hunger was never an issue because food stalls were also placed all around the venue for attendees to delight themselves with. Those who brought kids can avail the inflatable slide and the ball pool. Adults and tweens also enjoyed the gaming station – where you can play with a friend or a stranger who would turn into a friend because of your shared interests.

International celebrities, voice-over actors, and comic artists flew to Dubai to grace PopCon. Lexi Rabe, the child actress who portrayed Morgan Stark in the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, was one of them. Lexi was joined by Manu Bennet, known for his role in Arrow as Deathstroke, Peter Gadiot, who played Shanks in the live-action One Piece, and Aryan Simhadri, who played Grover in Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympian. Zac Wang, who played Cheng in Karate Kid and many more international celebrities were present. They were also joined by famous voice actors such as Romi Park who played Zoe Hange in the series “Attack on Titan.” She was joined by a Somalian fan from Saudi Arabia who could imitate Levi on stage to act out a scene from AOT.

The event not only celebrated established pop culture phenomena but also provided a platform for emerging artists and creators to showcase their talents. PopCon is set to come back to Skydive Dubai on February 7-9, 2025.
