The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has conducted three innovation labs in the first half of 2023 at the Transportation Research and Innovation Pavilion (TRIP). These labs centered around legislation, licensing systems, and enhancing financial sustainability.
The Innovation and Pioneering Department of RTA facilitated the activities, with participation from RTA employees, government agencies, private companies, and start-ups.
The Legislation Lab explored using artificial intelligence in legislation and the legal liability of autonomous vehicles, generating 28 proposed ideas.
In a statement released on Thursday, Fatima Al Mandoos, Director of Innovation and Pioneering, Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector of RTA, said: “RTA is focused on fostering innovation by creating a supporting environment for exploration, experimentation, and testing.”
“This initiative is aimed at delivering proactive and comprehensive services that cater to the diverse needs and expectations of customers, community, partners, and stakeholders. By doing so, RTA seeks to improve individuals’ wellbeing and happiness,” she added.
With the theme “Pioneering Legislation and Policies for Soft, Integrated, Shared, and Smart Mobility”, the Licensing Agency’s Government Innovation Lab focused on sustainable services and licensing systems to improve environmental sustainability, resulting in four innovative initiatives from 37 ideas.
On the other hand, the Financial Sustainability and Operational Efficiency Laboratory addressed financial sustainability, attracting foreign investment, and fostering partnerships, generating 62 ideas and eight innovative initiatives.
Further, RTA plans to execute these initiatives and projects, emphasizing partnerships with researchers and academics through its Mobility Research and Innovation Centre, to enhance global innovation in seamless and sustainable mobility.
