Dubai’s population exceeds 3.55 million mark in 2022

The population of Dubai has surpassed 3.55 million at the end of 2022, according to data from the Statistics Centre. This marks a 2.1% increase from the end of 2021, when the population stood at 3,478,300. The emirate had previously crossed the 3.5 million mark in April of last year, but saw a dip amid the economic downturn brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the population has steadily increased in 2021 and 2022 thanks to economic recovery and job creation in sectors such as travel and tourism, hospitality, real estate, aviation, and MICE. The success of Expo 2020, as well as the city’s handling of the pandemic, has also attracted professionals and high net-worth individuals to Dubai.

In addition to the population increase, Dubai’s GDP has also seen significant growth in the past year. The emirate’s GDP expanded by 4.6% in the first nine months of 2022, reaching a total of 307.5 billion AED. This growth can be attributed to the diversification of Dubai’s economy, which has allowed the city to thrive despite global economic challenges. The increase in population and economic activity has also led to a surge in tourism, with Dubai’s tourism sector seeing a significant rebound in the past year.

The population of Dubai is known to jump by over one million during the day, thanks to the influx of workers and tourists. This highlights the city’s status as a major business and tourism hub in the region, attracting people from all over the world for both work and leisure.
