King Charles III tells UK Prime Minister that mother’s death is a ‘dreaded moment’

King Charles III told United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss that the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was the moment he was dreading.

The exchange was captured during their first ever meeting shortly after Queen Elizabeth died. Charles recently arrived at Buckingham Palace in London from Scotland.

“The moment I’ve been dreading, as I know a lot of people have,” Charles said.

Before the meeting, Charles and his wife Camilla also spent some time with the public and shook hands with well-wishers.

“We mustn’t take up too much of your time,” Charles said to Truss.

Truss recently won the elections before the news of Elizabeth’s death.

“It has been so touching this afternoon when we arrived, all those people who had come to give their condolences … and flowers,” he added.
