The Philippines will be hosting the Southeast Asian Games anew this 2033 according to Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.
This will be the fifth time that the country will be hosting the biennial sports even for Southeast Asian athletes. The country last hosted the sports event in 2019 where the Philippines emerged as the overall champion.

“We offered a bid to host anew in 2033 and the council unanimously approved,” Tolentino said on Thursday.
Vietnam last hosted the SEA Games after postponing it for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cambodia will be the next host followed by Bangkok in Thailand 2025, Malaysia in 2027, Singapore in 2029 and Laos in 2031.
Tolentino said the 2033 hosting will be formally presented to Malacanang as a symbol of the Philippines’ acceptance of responsibility.

“After presenting the hosting bid to the council, and following its approval, the POC and the SEA Games Council will ask the Philippine government to issue a letter of support,” Tolentino said.
“If the government declines, the hosting chores will be offered to another country,” he added.
