Press Secretary Trixie Angeles announced in a press briefing that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has tested positive for Covid-19 in an antigen test, on Friday, July 8.
“He has a slight fever but is otherwise, okay. Those who were in close contact with him are being informed by the Presidential management staff to observe their symptoms as per the protocol,” said Angeles.
Marcos will not be attending the 246th anniversary of US Independence Day at the US Embassy because of this. But will virtually attend and give a message at the Leagues of Governors and Mayors meeting of officials tonight.
Those who were in the Oath Taking of the president were asked to observe their symptoms.
Angeles said that first lady Louise Araneta-Marcos was out of town and was not exposed.
“The president will be isolating for 7 days from the time that he was tested positive. After that if the symptoms have resolved alreadym he may be able to go back to work,” said Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire.
