President Bongbong Marcos is now in the final stages of selecting his other Cabinet members and he has no deadline in choosing the leaders of crucial departments.
Marcos has yet to name the head of of the following:
– Department of Energy
– Department of Environment and Natural Resources
– Department of Health
– Department of Science and Technology
“Masuri talaga ang pag-evaluate nila dito sa mga kandidato para sa mga posisyon. I understand that these are already undergoing the final stage, so I don’t think it would take too long,” Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said in a briefing.

Angeles refused to comment if Health Secretary Francisco Duque and Janette Garin were among those being considered as health chief.
“One of the priorities is managing the effects of the pandemic. They must look very carefully and closely at the candidate,” she said.
“Ang sinasabi lang namin, dumadaan sa matinding pagsusuri. Wala tayong sinasabing nahihirapan. These are important positions, so kailangan dumaan sa butas ng karayom,” Angeles added.

For now, Marcos maintains existing policies when it comes to pandemic response.
The Department of Health said Monday that its senior career officials are leading pandemic response and other operations while Marcos is still choosing his health chief.
“We look forward to working with our new secretary on delivering services that promote the people’s health,” the DOH said in a statement.
