The Philippines’ Department of Social Welfare and Development have debunked rumors that they will be giving cash handouts for the upcoming elections.

This, after fake posts in the name of the aforementioned agency went viral on social media ahead of the May 9 presidential election. The said post promised “P10K aid for all voters.”

The DSWD said the posts were fake, and “It is not true that the DSWD is giving a 10,000-peso cash handout to voters.”

The post was shared over 15,000 times and featured the logo of the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and photos of a man and woman flaunting 1,000-peso bills.

The graphic was posted on Facebook page “DSWD Ayuda 10K 2022”.

In Tagalog, “Ayuda” means “aid” .
