SAGIP Party-List Representative Rodante Marcoleta, one of the lawmakers who pushed for the denial of ABS-CBN franchise, has quit the senatorial race.
COMELEC Commissioner George Garcia said Marcoleta’s withdrawal was accepted by the Comelec en banc during its latest meeting in a message to reporters.

In a press statement, Marcoleta cited his poor showing in surveys as one of the reasons for his withdrawal.
“The fighter in me should also be brave enough to read the writings on the wall. Let’s call a spade a spade,” he said in a statement.
Marcoleta however said that he will continue to support PDP-Laban candidates and the UniTeam and thanked them for supporting his senatorial plans.
