Bongbong Marcos says corruption can’t be stopped

Presidential candidate and son of late dictator Bongbong Marcos admits that corruption can’t be stopped.

“Yung corruption, talagang hindi matitigil yan dahil, as I keep reminding everyone, corruption is not a Filipino condition. It is a human condition,” Marcos said in a taped interview on Saturday.

Marcos made the statement when he was asked if he will continue the Duterte administration’s fight against corruption.

“Meron talagang laging tao diyan na talagang hindi deretso mag-isip. Gusto talagang gumawa ng kalokohan,” Marcos said.

The Presidential Commission on Good Government said that the Marcos family amassed some $5 to $10 billion of ill-gotten wealth when the former president came into power.

Marcos adds that one of the best ways to eliminate corruption is to streamline the processes in government transactions to avoid fixers.

“At the high level of the government, ang talagang kailangan ay mamili ka ng magaling na tao, na alam mong hindi korap,” he said.

Marcos assured that there will be no sacred cows should he win the presidency.

“Kailangan mag-set ng example. Eh kami, hindi namin ginagawa ‘yan. Huwag n’yong gagawin ‘yan, kundi tanggal kayo. Hindi lang tanggal kayo, kundi ikukulong ka namin,” he said.

Marcos’ mother Imelda was convicted of 7 counts of graft for using her cabinet position to maintain their Swiss accounts.
