Typhoon Odette (international name Rai) is now classified as a super typhoon by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) of the US Air Force.
The typhoon, projected to make landfall on Thursday, has maximum sustained winds of 259 kilometers per hour (kph), according to JTWC’s latest bulletin.
Several cities and provinces have declared work and class suspensions on Thursday due to the looming threat of Typhoon Odette.
Classes are suspended in the following areas:
Iloilo City (all levels)
Bacolod City (face-to-face classes at Alangilan National High School)
Bohol (all levels)
Eastern Samar (all levels)
Bacolod and Eastern Samar meantime declared work suspension due to the typhoon.
Odette is located 265 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
