President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles as his acting spokesperson following the resignation of Harry Roque.
“Alam mo once you file your certificate of candidacy, automatic ‘yan out ka na sa gobyerno. No other formal ritual is needed,” Duterte said in his recorded speech when he discussed about Roque’s senatorial bid.
Duterte asked Nograles to be his temporary spokesperson while he is still looking for Roque’s replacement.

“So kung maari, ikaw na lang sana ang acting na muna until we find a replacement. I don’t want to burden you with so much. Alam ko ang paper work dadaan sayo,” Duterte told Nograles.
Roque did not file his COC last October after Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte did not decide to run for a national post.
The presidential spokesperson repeatedly said that he might change his decision if the Davao mayor will also run for a higher post.

Roque filed his COC shortly after he failed a seat at the International Law Commission.
Roque received the least number of votes among candidates from Asia-Pacific States, getting just 87 out of the 191 valid ballots. (TDT)
