Former Senator and son of late dictator Bongbong Marcos officially filed his candidacy for the 2022 elections.
Marcos filed his certificate of candidacy on Wednesday, October 6.
Marcos has yet to announce his running mate but the original plan was to adopt President Rodrigo Duterye as vice president.

Duterte backed out and was replaced by Senator Bong Go as standard bearer.
“The original plan was for us to adopt PRRDfor our vice presidential candidate, pero sa mga nangyari noong nakaraang Sabado ay nagbago lahat ng plano,” he said.
“Kaya’t ngayon nagkokonsulta ang partido kung ano dapat gawin,” he added.
Marcos has yet to decide if he is ready to accept Go as running mate.
Marcos made the announcement on his presidential bid Facebook live on Tuesday, October 5.

“I am now announcing my intention to run for president for the 2022 elections. It’s time to bring back the unifying leadership,” he said.
Marcos said that he will focus in driving the nation to recovery which was heavily devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Sama sama tayong babangon mula sa hagupit ng pandemya at babangon mula sa paglulugmok ng ating ekonomiya,” he said.
Marcos ran in 2016 as vice president but lost to Vice President Leni Robreo. He filed an electoral protest but the Supreme Court ruled that Robredo was the rightful winner in the 2016 polls. (TDT)
