President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the vaccination of the general public starting October.
This was announced by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
Roque said that while vaccination will be open for the general public, those belonging to priority groups will not lose their status.
“Antayin natin ang detalye, pero ang A1, A2, A3 hindi naman mawawala ang kanilang priority. Magkakaroon tayo ng express lane sa kanila. Pero ngayong nariyan na ang supply, ay sisimulan na natin ang bakunahan ng general population,” Roque said.
The palace official adds that Duterte also green-lighted the vaccination of children or those 17 years old and below.
“Inaasahan po nating magsisimula rin tayo sa buwan ng Oktubre, aprubado na rin po ‘yan ng Presidente,”Roque added.
The Philippines has already administered 43,933,886 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines according to the country’s National Task Force (NTF).
As of September 26, Some 23,626,764 are waiting for their second doses.
20,307,122 on the other hand are fully vaccinated. This is 26% of the target 70% population by the end of the year.
