The spokesperson of Vice President Leni Robredo clarified that she only received an invitation to attend President Rodrigo Duterte’s last State of the Nation Address (SONA) virtually.
“VP Leni received the invitation to attend the SONA last Friday. Similar to the previous year, she was not asked to be physically present, but to join via Zoom. She will therefore be attending remotely,” Gutierrez said in a statement.
Some 350 guests will be allowed to attend SONA physically on July 26 subject to strict health protocols.
Attendees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. They should also present negative RT-PCR tests and will be subjected to antigen test on the day of the event.
Robredo had attended all of Duterte’s previous SONAs despite their complicated working relationship.
