Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has quashed the idea of Duterte-Duterte tandem if she decides to run as President in 2022 polls.
The younger Duterte has thumbed down the idea of running as president with her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, as his vice president despite receiving support from members of the ruling party PDP-Laban.
The faction of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi in PDP-Laban has been urging the President to run as vice president and pick a running mate that he wants to succeed in his post.

However, according to the younger Duterte, her father made it clear already that the presidency is not a woman’s job.
“If President Duterte will run for vice president, let’s not expect that he will get me as president,” Mayor Duterte said in her radio program.
Sara Duterte previously said she is not inclined to run for president. However, she has changed her tune about the presidential race saying she is considering the idea of gunning for the country’s top post.

Meanwhile, she said she is not interested in joining national parties and would rather stay in Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), a coalition she has formed along with some politicians in Davao Region for the 2019 elections.
Duterte also expressed gratitude to politicians who support her, especially those who expressed interest to become her running mate in 2022 polls.
She said she is not yet decided if she will run for President or seek reelection as Mayor of Davao City next year. (RA)
