A 38-year-old Indian construction worker will spend three years behind bars to be followed by deportation after he stabbed his supervisor multiple times.
The Dubai Court of First Instance found him guilty of attempted murder for the incident that happened in August last year.
According to court documents, the worker wanted to return to India to care for his dying mother. But he was informed by the victim that he was not included in the priority list of 22 employees to be sent home.
The man learned that his mother died the next day.
Furious that he was not able to see his mother before her death, he diverted his anger to his supervisor and stabbed him 11 times in the abdomen and chest.
“I told him it was not my decision and that I was only tasked by my employer to inform 22 workers at the company about their flight booking,” the 25-year-old victim, who was also from India, told the court.
The victim managed to survive the attack while the suspect was arrested by Dubai Police
