PH gov’t mulls giving single-dose COVID-19 vaccine for OFWs

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello disclosed that the government is studying the possibility of requiring single-dose COVID-19 vaccines for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and seafarers.

Bello said that the proposal aims to help OFWs to meet their deadlines for their deployment and vaccine needs.

“Pinag-aaralan ngayon ni vaccine czar Secretary Galvez na yung mga OFW natin kagaya ng seafarers, one time na lang ang bakuna nila,” Bello told GMA News in a radio interview.

OFWs are currently under the A1 vaccination list together with medical frontliners.

The A1 category also includes medical frontliners in the prioritization in the vaccination rollout.

“Outbound OFWs, family members of health workers now under A1 priority group,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque earlier said in a media briefing.
