The Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 has recommended the extension of travel restrictions from the UAE and Oman until June 15, said Presidential Spokesperson Harry, stressing that President Rodrigo Duterte has yet to decide on the extension.

“Wala pa pong lumalabas na memorandum galing sa tanggapan ng Presidente tungkol sa continuation ng travel ban, bagamat meron pong rekomendasyon ang IATF to extend ‘yung existing travel bans until June 15,” Roque said in a media briefing.
The Philippines has imposed a travel ban on all travellers from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE until May 31.

The government made the decision to prevent the entry of more transmissible new COVID-19 variants.
The Department of Health reported that there are at least 1,071 cases of the B.1.1.7 variant from the United Kingdom and 1,246 cases of the B.1.351 variant from South Africa. (TDT)
