The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo has expressed its willingness to work with President Rodrigo Duterte for an infomercial campaign to encourage more people to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Senator Joel Villanueva first floated the idea saying that the two top leaders can boost public trust in the COVID-19 vaccines.
“Ang isang mungkahi po natin, maglabas ng isang joint public service announcement ang Pangulo at ang Bise Pangulo. Ito po ang tambalang nakikita nating mabisa na pangontra sa mga fake news,” Villanueva said in a statement.
Robredo’s spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said that their camp is willing to do the infomercial campaign.
“Kung talagang may magri-reach out sa kaniya at magkasama sila ni Pangulong Duterte para magkaroon ng isang infomercial para lalong maengganyo ang ating mga kababayan na magpabakuna sa lalong madaling panahon, bukas po siya diyan,” Gutierrez said in an interview on GMA News.
Gutierrez also said that it’s better if the campaign will not focus on vaccine brands.
Robredo was recently inoculated with her first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Duterte on the other hand received the Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccine.
