Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes allegedly apprehended for COVID-19 violation

Philippine billiards icon Efren ‘Bata Reyes’ was reportedly caught for violating COVID-19 protocols while playing unauthorized billiards games in San Pedro, Laguna.

The game is currently prohibited according to health protocols. In a viral video, the billiards legend was caught by authorities during a game on March 11.

Reyes is a senior citizen, which means he is not allowed to go outside of his home, unless for essential activities. He was also seen not wearing face mask.

The San Pedro Police said that there were no arrests made.

“A concerned citizen in Barangay San Vicente called the barangay to report a billiards game where many people gathered, among them Efren Bata Reyes,” the statement said.

The barangay then called the PNP for assistance.

Those in the billiard hall were brought to the barangay to be recorded and reminded of protocols. The items that were confiscated were returned. (TDT)
