Beginning February 1, Monday, people entering Abu Dhabi will now be required to show COVID-19 negative test results via tracing through the ‘Al Hosn’ app and not through SMS notification.
Installation of the Al Hosn app on one’s mobile phone is now required as the information will help officers posted at the border to ascertain the quarantine norms to be followed for a particular person.
These stricter measures were issued by the Emergency and Crisis Committee of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Abu Dhabi Police have called on the public to commit to downloading the Al Hosn app on their mobile phones to facilitate the movement of their entry into the emirate through checkpoints located on the border.
They are also urging people to activate the app for its contact tracing norms.
Those who are returning from abroad to Dubai or other emirates, can no longer just take a fresh test after exiting the airport and show the new result at the border to avoid quarantine norms.
This time, the application does not only show the test result but highlights the number of days since a person landed at the airport from abroad.
People flying from abroad, including families, are sent to institutional quarantine in the industrial area of Mussafah among other centers.
Meanwhile, those who will enter Abu Dhabi taking the DPI test must do so within 24 hours after receiving the negative result. However, this method cannot be used to enter for a consecutive time.

Those entering with this test and staying for more than 48 hours must take a PCR test on the third day of entry, and on the seventh day if they are staying for seven days or more.
For people entering the emirate with a negative PCR test result, there is no change in the 48-hour window period. They may take the PCR test on the fourth day and eighth day should they stay for eight days or more.
Volunteers of the Phase 3 Clinical Trials and those vaccinated as part of national vaccination programs who have received the status of a gold star or ‘E’ icons on their Al Hosn app do not need to undergo these procedures. (ES)
