LOOK: UAE delegation set to visit family of fallen Filipina nurse arrives in Manila

The UAE delegation from the Crown Prince’s Court and the Emirates Red Crescent who will visit the family of the deceased Filipina nurse Lezly Ocampo has reached the Philippines.

La Union Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III met with the Head of Consulate of Finance and Administrative Department of the Embassy of the UAE to the Philippines Khalid Alhajeri on December 28, 2020 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union, following the recognition of Ocampo as one of United Arab Emirates’ (UAE’s) National Heroes – Fallen Frontliners.

Photos from the UAE Embassy in Manila and the Provincial Government of La Union show that the delegation has already met with several government officials from La Union last December 28 to discuss efforts to meet the Ocampo’s family in the province.

Prior to landing in Manila, the five-member UAE delegation met with Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Ambassador Hjayceelyn M. Quintana.

Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, personally called Julius Concepcion, the husband of Ocampo, to express his sincerest condolences to Julius and his appreciation of Lezly’s sacrifice to the nation.

“And if there’s anything we can do or help, don’t hesitate because of what she has done for us…[inaudible],” said His Highness.

Ocampo was supposed to visit her child in the Philippines, but couldn’t due to travel restrictions. Instead, she devoted her time as a medical frontliner in the Gulf state.

“In honor of Nurse Lezly of Balaoan, La Union who passed away due to CoViD-19 while rendering service as nurse in Abu Dhabi, the UAE Embassy will be partnering with the Provincial Government of La Union for initiatives to address health and socio-economic challenges in the province most especially in the Municipality of Balaoan,” read the statement from the Provincial Government of La Union’s Facebook page.
